Another Cyclist Hit and Killed in Tallahassee - (TDO):

Another cyclist has been hit and killed in my hometown of Tallahassee. If that’s not bad enough it was a guy I was an acquaintance with. Trey was a really nice guy and is certainly going to me missed. TPD has yet to finish the investigation or press charges against the driver of the Semi-Tractor that hit Trey.

“A bicyclist was killed this afternoon after he was struck by a tractor-trailer at Gaines Street and Railroad Avenue.

Arthur [Trey] Hayworth, 24, was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, said David McCranie, spokesman for the Tallahassee Police Department.

The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. Hayworth and the truck were both northbound on Railroad Avenue at the time. The truck ran over the cyclist, according to results of the preliminary investigation.

The name of the driver of the tractor-trailer was not immediately available.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we’ll have to evaluate the witness statements and physical evidence in order to make a determination on what if any charges would be filed,” McCranie said.”

That sucks. Some people are just total asshats. Hope the...

One of the first albums I can remember my father giving to me was “Ole,” by John Coltrane, which -perhaps because the tracks are all so long- hasn’t the popularity in his oeuvre that I feel it should.

Searching for clips of those songs on YouTube was fruitless (I’ve never even heard a live performance of them), so I settled for this excellent performance of “My Favorite Things,” which shares some harmonic elements with “Ole” and features some of the same personnel: Eric Dolphy, McCoy Tyner, Reggie Workman (but not Art Davis), and Elvin Jones.

I spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to easily grab a clip from an MP3 and turn it in to an iPhone ringtone. There are tons of applications, FAQs, and tutorials about how to do it, most of which are outdated. Here’s all you need:

Garageband 4.4.1

That’s it. Open a new song, drag and drop the music file you want to mess around with, create a cycle region (it’s the “reload”-looking button to the left of the Play button) of the part you want your ringtone to be - 40 seconds or less - then go up to Share, then Send Ringtone to iTunes. That’s it. More detailed instructions here. It’s disturbingly easy, and I don’t know why it wasn’t more obvious. So there you go.

And for the record, my new ringtone is the solo from Megadeth - Sleepwalker. \m/

I’ve been to Kickass Cupcakes and liked the double chocolate one, although I imagine that it’s hard to screw up. I’ve also been to Lulu’s Bake Shoppe in the North End and enjoyed their cupcakes and such. Julie was really happy with the red velvet cupcake. Will have to try Sweet on Mass Ave next.
